* An normal cyle lasts between 21 and 35 days. The average is slightly longer than 28 days

* Normal menstruation lasts between 2 and 7 days
* Ovulation is on average between 14 days before menstruation starts (95% of fertile wome ovulate between 12 and 16 days before her next cycle)
* On average a woman will lose 35 ml of menstrual blood. A quantity of between 10ml nd 80ml is considered normal
* A cycle that differs 7 or less days on average in length between cycles are considerd regular.
* A cycle that differs between 8 and 20 days are considered moderately irregular.
* Cycles that differes more than 21 days are considered very irregular.
* It is normal for a woman’s cycle to differ by at least 4 days
* Menarche between the ages of 8 and 16 is considered normal The average age is between 12 and 13 today, but it is trending younger.
* Menopause between the ages of 45 and 55 is normal with the average age of 52. This age is trending later.
* The normal flow pattern is heavy flow day 1 or 2 and then tapering off for the next few days. Most women will be done between day 3 and day 5.
* When you are on birth control hormones, you no longer ovulate and menstruate. You get artificially caused withdrawal bleeding when you get to the inactive pills. The statistics above does not hold water when you are on the pill.
