Toys and Games

Sex Toys come in many different types, shapes, colors, materials, textures and sizes.

A sex toy can be used for stimulating and massaging:

  • The Clitoris and Vulva
  • Vagina and G-Spot (remember that only the outer third of the Vagina is sensitive to stimulation)
  • Anus
  • Vagina and Anus
  • Vagina and Clitoris

Toys can be manually operated or powered. Powered toys can use normal batteries, electricity or sealed in rechargeable batteries.

A toy that does not have a motor in it is called a Dildo. A toy with a motor in it is called a Vibrator. A Vibrator can be used like a Dildo if you do not use it’s motor.

Some toys look like an actual penis but this is not a requirement.

Price and Quality

As with everything else in life, you get what you pay for. If you get a cheap vibrator it will surely stop working just when you needs it most. The best advice is to buy a toy in the US$80 to US$150 price range. Sometimes these toys can be found on sale for less that this. The problems with cheap vibrators are that their motors will burn out, it will start to fall apart or the gears will strip. Cheap vibrators are also more difficult to clean and keep clean as they are not well put together.

This does not go for Dildos. Dildos are normally made from a solid and sealed material. It does not have any motor that can break. Even cheap Dildos will give you hours of fun.

Materials

Pure Silicone

Silicone is a synthetic polymer made from silica, a white or colorless crystalline compound that occurs abundantly as quartz, sand, flint, agate, and lots of other minerals. Silica is the second most abundant element of the earth’s crust. By chemically linking it to oxygen molecules, silicone in various consistencies can be created – including liquids (oils), gels, rubbers, and even hard plastics. Silicone is also able to resists extreme temperatures and oxidation, making it ideal for making products ranging from breast implants to gaskets to sealants to sex toys. Indeed, silicone has now become so prevalent in the sex toy industry that it’s now commonplace to find products that contain at least some silicone in their ingredients. Advances in silicone technology have led to sex toys that actually mimic human flesh.

Silicone is hygienic, non-porous and pliable material that can come in many colors. It warms to the body and retains heat. It is also extremely durable. High quality silicone toys are easy to disinfect and even textured toys are easily cleaned.

Silicone is hypoallergenic.

To clean your silicone toy, wash it with soap and water, or boil it for 5-10 minutes, or pop it in your dishwasher.  Do not boil silicone vibrators if you can not remove the vibrating part.

If you disinfect silicone toys between uses, you can share them with a partner. Do NOT use silicone lubes like Eros with silicone toys as it can destroy the silicone in the toy. Put a condom over the toy if you want to use a silicone lube. Water based lubes are safe to use with silicone toys.

Silicone toys vary in their density — some are very soft while others are more rigid, but they are all pliable. The variation depends on how much silicone is poured into the mold. Silicone also carries vibration like a dream. You’ll find that silicone items are often more expensive that sex toys made of other materials. Not only is the material more expensive than plastics or rubbers. You will find the higher price worthwhile because of the longer life span of silicone and its ability to be disinfected for use with more than one partner.

Elastomer

Elastomer is slightly porous and cannot be disinfected. To clean it, wash with soap and water. Elastomer is phthalate-free, hypoallergenic, soft, and durable. Use with condoms if sharing or for easier cleanup. People who are concerned about avoiding contact with rubber softeners might choose elastomer toys as good soft alternatives.

Jelly Rubber and Phthalates

Soft Vinyl

Hard Materials (hard plastics, acrylics, Lucite, glass, metal)

These are my favorite material for Dildos. They look stunning and are extremely easy to clean. They can be placed in hot or cold water to change the temprature. Glass toys should be inspected before use to make sure they are not chipped or cracked.

TPR (Thermo plastic rubber)

TPE Plastic (Emotional Bliss toys)
